The City Of NIXA Photo Contest
All that Nixa offers…
The City of Nixa needs your best photos of our community as we redesign Nixa.com, and begin to design new brochures and other publications which need high-quality local imagery.
Imagine seeing your photo featured on the Nixa.com website or on the cover of a brochure or “Welcome to Nixa” guide. If that’s not enough motivation, 22 prizes will also be given away to eligible photographers, up to $500 for “Best Overall Photo” for each age group.
All contest winners will be featured in a news release, web page, and social media post where we will name and credit each of the winning photos. Keep in mind, even if your photo doesn’t win any of the category prizes, we may still use any photo submitted to the contest to help us promote the Nixa community. We may also print and display your photos at City Hall or other city facilities. The city may also share photos received through this contest with our partner organizations such as the Nixa Chamber of Commerce, Nixa Community Foundation, Show Me Christian County, etc. for the purpose of promoting the Nixa community.
Submit Photographs in Any of the Following Categories

Activities, events, and home life. Large groups of people.
Families & Smiling Faces
Individuals or small groups of people. Close-ups of smiling faces.
Diversity & Inclusion
Diverse people together.
Collaboration & Teamwork
Team sports, meetings, working together, shaking hands.
Favorite Places in Nixa
Pictures taken inside the city limits at/in any destination, business, park, etc.
Enjoying the Ozarks outdoors
Pictures taken outdoors in a natural or rural area within roughly 15-minute drive of Nixa. Landscapes, wildlife, and action shots all accepted, with preference towards depictions of people enjoying the outdoors.
We will also select one “Best Overall Photo” winner from each of the four photographer age groups, regardless of topic category. Photographer age groups are:
- Children 15 and younger
- Young Adults 16-20
- Adults 21-40
- Adults 41 and older
Prizes
The contest will be open until 8am CST on January 1, 2023.
There is no limit on the number of photos each photographer may submit.
NOTE: The City of Nixa may begin using photographs submitted to the contest before the contest close date. Use of your photo by the City is not a guarantee that your photo will be named a prize winner.
After the deadline for photo submissions, the City of Nixa Communications Department will judge all entries submitted, determine prize winners, contact the prize winners, and announce the prize winners via the city website, press release, and social media posts.
Best Overall Photos For Each Age Group
We will select one “Best Overall” photo for each of the 4 photographer age groups (Children 15 and younger, Young Adults 16-20, Adults 21-40, and Adults 41 and older). Each of those winners will receive a $500 prize.
Category Winners
We will also select a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place photo for each of the 6 topical categories. First place topical prizes will be $100, second place topical prizes will be $50, and third place topical prizes will be $20. A single photographer may be able to win multiple topical prizes.
This means we are giving away a total of 22 prizes with a total value of $3,020.
Neither elected city officials nor city staff are eligible to win any prizes, but are encouraged to submit photos.
Rules and Release
By entering this contest you agree to comply with the following rules.
The photographer or photographer’s guardian must be the one submitting the photo to the contest. Images submitted by persons under the age of 18, must have the parental consent fields filled out by a parent or legal guardian.
All entries must be submitted through this online contest portal and all fields on the submission form must be completed.
Photographs must have been taken in the Nixa, Missouri area.
Entries must be suitable for display on a public website.
All entered photographs may be used as content on the City’s website or in other ways to promote the City of Nixa. The photographer retains the copyright to his or her work.
Photographs should be high resolution. As stated above, we use submitted photographs in publications and on our website. The higher the resolution you provide, the more likely your photograph will be used.
Winners will be announced after January 1, 2023 via website and email.
By entering you affirm that you are the person who took the submitted photograph and that the entry was taken within the Nixa, Missouri Area; you own all intellectual property rights to the photograph; you grant the City the perpetual right and license to reproduce your photographs for educational, promotional, or publicity purposes without payment or further compensation. You also grant to the City of Nixa the perpetual right and license to allow the City of Nixa to authorize the use of the submitted photographs by other partner organizations of the City of Nixa for educational, promotional, or publicity purposes without payment or further compensation.
